king (resun) 225 nw pump issues

i just started up a 90 gallon friday and am using an octopus hang-on skimmer with a king (resun) 225 nw pump. the pump has cut-off on me 3 times since yesterday. it hasn't flipped any breakers or the power strip for that matter either. it's not hot to the touch when i take it out.

i've cleaned it, and re-assembled it. it worked again, but then cut-back off a little later. it did the same thing this morning, now i have the pump running in the sink with fresh water to see if it happens again. the only thing i can think of is that the tank is still cloudy and sirred up some that it's causing some blockage in the impellar or something. i am using some fone sugar sized sand on the bottom.

anyone have any issues with these pumps that can help me out?

thanks
