125 gallon sump size..

I am considering using a 33 Long as a sump for a 125 gallon tank. i just am not sure wether this will be a large enough sump for this tank.

I already have a 33L laying around, so it would be ideal to use this one.

I am considering using a 40 breeder or a 55 gallon tank if the 33L will not work.

Suggestions please?!?

Thanks

bigger is always better. I've been using a 30 gal sump on my 120 gal tank for a few months now and it works. In the event of a power outage my tank drains down a little less than 2" and that fills the sump right up to the rim. I was given a 55gal for free a week ago that is a bit beat up so I am going to make that my new sump.

I used a 30 gallon sump for a year on my 125, It worked fine But Like whatcaneyedo stated there was not much room for error. I now use a 40 gallon and would go even bigger if I had the room.

Planning is everything. I'm running a 20 gallon sump on my 125 until I get the big system back up and running and it works fine. I am running a 5 gallon fuge also, but the sump has an ATO, 8" diameter skimmer, heater, pH and temp monitor and a 700 gph return pump. It's tight, but works well.
