Tank drilled for closed loop - help?

I've been searching for a oceanic cube 37g (24x18) and finally have a lead on one. It's drilled for overflow and has 3 holes for a closed loop (see pic).

I've never thought about doing a closed loop, don't know what I'd need for it and don't know if the hole positions are conducive to it. Before I close the deal, I'd like some opinions as to whether this would be good.

I know I could plug the additional holes and not use them, but I'd rather not plug them.

Thanks!

Any suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated.

I plan to make this a sps tank with a 250 halide lighting it.

If it's there I would diffidently use them. You could add some Loc Line so you'll be able to aim the return flow. Only have experience with the Dart pumps so maybe some will help suggest a good CL pump.

Lets say #1 to 4 holes are from left to right.

I would do:

1- Drain
2- Return from #1
3- Drain for CL
4- return for CL

What size are the bulkhead?

One thing to consider with using #2 as the sump return is the back siphon that can occur if you lose power. When the sump pump stops working, water will drain from #2 until half your display tank water drains. A check valve may prevent a sump flood, but a check valve failure means trouble.

All the bulkheads are 1 inch. I will use the top left for drain and return over the top.

What do you recommend for the other 3 for the closed loop.

I'd plan to use the 2 middle ones for CL outputs, but I'd probably put some locline thorugh my rockwork. I could also use some elbows to divert it more towards the side.

The lowest was meant to be used as the CL intake, but I'm concerned that even with a strainer, it could get clogged and with rockwork likely there, I'd have to pull all the rock to gain access.

A local reefer suggested plugging the bottom or using the bottom as a CL return diverting that flow sideways behind the rockwork.

I'm looking for suggestions and ideas.

Thanks!

The intake for your CL needs to be cleaned periodically...I would not make it the lowest/least accessible hole.
