sand sand sand, everywhere!!
i posted this in other fourm but i'll try this one....i just got 120 gal tank i bought home depot sand, not the tank is a disaster sand everywherem overflows, water wet dry everything. should i wait it out or what should i do? will it filter through? i also have a 3 stage petnair filter, with mechanical, chemical, and UV on top of the sump...any ideas, suggestions? thanks

I'll bet you didn't rinse the sand out first.
If there's nothing in the tank - i.e., no fish, live rock, etc, then I would syphon out the water, remove the sand, and rinse the system out with enough water to get rid of the dust, then start over. Always rinse sand really well before putting it in or you will have a huge sandstorm. What kind of system are you setting up? Fish only or reef? If you are going to have live rock I would turn the wet-dry into a refugium or sump and throw out the bioballs. They will only cause problems. Not familiar with that petnair filter. |
