Reverse Durso ??
I have always ran a pipe straight down into my sump into a filter sock to cut down on micro bubles etc... In my newest setup I decided I did not want to run a filter sock any longer and plumbed a reverse Durso for water coming into the sump as this was suppposed to vent air bubbles and give a smoother transition into the sump.
However, I fired it up last night for a test run and water started shooting out of the drilled pipe cap on the elbow coming out of the water. The drilled part of the cap is suppposed to vent air. Any solutions? Should I have extended the pipe cap higher so the water doesnt have a chance to fill the chamber where air is supposed to escape? I am kind of screwed because all is glued down. Also, I didn't run the airline tube as the instructions say to do so. I suppose I could re-drill the cap and install the airline tubing a few inches higher. Just wanted some input from people who have used the reverse Durso and what they did |

the only way to prevent water from coming out of it will be to have it higher than the water level of the drain, ie the top of the overflow pipe.

I tried this a year ago and gave up - similar experience as to what you are describing. I finally got it working without spewing water, however, I didn't see any benefit and gave up. Do you have a link or further info as to what you specifically did as I have seen a few variants of this.
