green birds nest

is it common for green birds nest to brown out if the lighting it's kept under is too bright? I've been keeping one in my tank for a couple months and while there has been noticeable growth and great p.e., the color of the polyps has really turned dull. currently it is about 18" from a 250 watt metal halide. would moving it to a lower level in the aquarium be a good first step? anyone have experience with this? thanks for any help.

i probably should note that there are other sps in the tank that are thriving and colorful. all chemical paramaters are in check.

It has been my experience that green bird's nest corals thrive under lower metal halide light, and are not as colorful under more intense light.

Here is a picture of my green birdsnest under 175 watt MH lamps (with corals in the middle or upper part of tank):

This is what the birdsnest looks like under 400 watt MH (sitting at the bottom of the tank):

What kelvin are the lights? This will affect the color you see the coral as and why the same thing looks different under the T5's.

do the T5's have actinics as well? Many lights say they are whatever K, but will still vary in color temp with manufacturers.

That is a sweet piece that to me more resembles a stylophora than seriatopora. I like it.

Mine under the T5 looks just like makoj does. Definately not like this under my halides with actinics.
