pH up to 8.6 during first few days of tank cycle. I this acceptable

or do I need to be doing something to correct this? If so, what? Thanks

i am pretty new but when i cycled my tank my levels were all over the place i think i used ph buffer though

During the cycle, I probably would't worry about it. After the cycle though, get it corrected. Water changes should suffice but may require buffering of some sort. As ruarox mentioned, levels will flucuate at first, given time they'll stabalize more.

I agree, I wouldn't worry about it too much as the tank cycles. What are you testing with?
