Coraline?

I used to have a nice amount of coraline algae growth on the back wall of my tank, and some scattered on my live rock. Over the last couple of months the purple has faded to a dusty looking white. My params have not changed from Cal:440 Mag:1350 Sal:1.026 Alk: 8.5 dKh Temp: 80F pH: 8.0 - 8.3 What do you think caused the change, and what can I do to get it to grow again?

Any lighting changes like a new fixture or new bulbs?

Once your coralline algae adjusts to the light it should grow back. Its like when you do water changes, you drop the water level exposing the algae to a brighter light. Its just the brighter light has bleached the algae, but it should grow back.

And there would be your answer Coraline will often bleach and die when light changes are made. It will come back in time as long as your parameters allow for it.

Another topic....

Do either of you know if a SunPod 70w HQI fixture will fire the 150w HQI bulb with the stock ballast?
