"Old" new Oceanic sump

I just purchased a new Oceanic #3 Sump. When my LFS delivered it to my home I noticed that the tank was manufactured in July of 2004. That would make it almost 3 years old. It is a brand new tank because it still has all of the original stickers and packaging.

I am just wondering if I should be concerned if the silicone dries out over time? Would I have a higher chance of joint failure. Keep in mind that this is my sump and not display tank.

Quite possibly the salt water affects the silicone more than the air, but I'm not sure.

Any thoughts?

it should be fine. i dont think air would be any more corrosive to the silicone than saltwater, and there are plenty of those sumps still running.. theres one at my lfs as we speak.. they are made to last. your fine

It might be better than the new ones.
