Temp Variations

I am having a huge problem keeping the temp of my 90g saltwater tank stable. I have a 300 watt All Glass heater. Sometimes I get home from work, and the temp of the tank is 81 degrees. The a/c in my house is set to 76 all the time. The heater is set at 75 and it makes the water higher than that. I have a little fan that blows air across the tank also, that i turn on when the temp gets high. What is the best way to keep the tank temp stable? I want to put more livestock in there but i dont want to kill them with the water temp going to high. I currently only have 4 damselfish.

First of all, remove absolutely all lids from sump and tank. Any closed area will be a problem. Your light period may be set too long or too short: that will throw it---especially with mh lighting.

There is no reason to worry about it. 76-81 is fine.

If your tank is ALWAYS at the same temp, if for some reason it does fluxuate it can really stress your livestock. If you let your tank temp fluxuate abit the livestock will be used to it and ultamately be less affected by temp. My tank is about 78F at night and can climb up to 82-83 during day. Hasnt hurt a thing.

Thanks for all your input. the temp does fluctuate a little bit. I just wanted to make sure everything was ok before i go and spend good money on fish, and they start dying due to the temp changes.

Ammonia 0. No filters: lps tank. Alk and cal won't rise if mg is low. Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny,royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%.
