DIY Plumbing Assistance Please!
Hi guys,
Im setting up my new 135 gallon tank. The specs of the tank are as follows: -72Lx18Wx24H acrylic -There is a 3-1/4" hole drilled on the left side (drain) and a 3/4" hole on the right (return) -I have a 2" bulkhead fitted in the drain hole -I have a pump rated for 2200gph with a 4'-5' head of tubing/pvc the returns water to the tank -I recently installed an overflow over the 2" bulkhead on the right that is rated for a flow of up to 2000gph. Here is are my questions: -flex drain hoses are not made for a 2" bulkhead and i was not able to find the standard 1-1/4" adapter that will fit the standard 1-1/4" flex drain hose. what should i do to remedy this problem? -i also want to build a durso standpipe for the unit, but what size PVC pipe should i use for a flowrate of approximately 1500-1700gph? -anyone have any suggestions on which size fittings i should get for this DIY plumbing setup? I just dont want the pump to be faster than the drain and im afraid that if i were to make it too big, the durso standpipe might be too loud? what is the standard size for a durso standpipe pvc pipe? my options are 1" and 1-1/2" pipes. Your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated! thanks in advance! best, sun |
