Closed loop suggestions for a 58g Oceanic SPS tank?

I'm still deciding how to setup flow on this tank. I'd like to keep it as unobtrusive and low noise as possible.

Tanks measures 36"x 21"x18". Drilled in the back for two 1" bulkheads.

I plan to run at least one mjmod in the tank. Right now I also have an Oceanrunner 2500 (650gph) and a 3/4 seaswirl (max 850gph) to work with, but I'm thinking these may be too small...

1) Should I go with an OM device, Seaswirl, or just run standard outlets? Eductors?
2) what size/brand pump should I run?

Have you considered a VorTech?

This is a great pump that provides turbulent, widespread flow. For a 58g, one would do a good job providing current for the tank.

The disadvantages of a closed loop is that the returns are very concentrated, meaning that it only gives you a a straight stream of flow. Also, depending on the pump, it would be less energy efficient in the long run compared to the
VorTech. Lastly, you would have have extraneous plumbing, which could always have the possibility of leaks.

I actually run a closed loop and a VorTech so I'm not biased.

HTH.

The tank is already drilled so I guess I'll stick with the closed loop.

Would one vortech/mjmod plus a seaswirl do the job? What gph do I need coming out of the seaswirl?

You can always use ball valves and close them if you don't want to go with the CL.

I'm not too familiar with seaswirls but a VorTech in a 58g will keep things movin'.
