Finally set up my transfer/qt system
Well I finally got around and set up my transfer/qt system in the new fish room. I am starting with my frags first to the frag system that is next on my list, but want to transfer/qt everything I have prior to putting them in. The new 450 is still a bit off. Just one thing at a time.
Well the system consists of 2 tanks (30 and a 20) with the sump (40 gallon breeder) with a 5 gallon refuge built in. The system is lit by 2 150De 14k bulbs. The returns for each tank are quiet one 3000's. I am using a Tunze 9005 skimmer and carbon in a kent reactor. I also have a 15wt UV in line. The top off is with a float valve that is gravity fed from a 5gallon ro/di jug into a MRC kalk reactor. I am using an OLD Octopus controller for just the heater. The lighting will be 8 hours on each tank split from 10am-6pm and the other 6pm-2am, that way both tanks will get a little residual from the one next to it. I hope this system will be pretty basic and LOW maintenance. Over view of the system Sump Side view of controller and top off system Controller |

It's actually in the fish room along the interior side wall where the ro/DI and salt tank will eventually go when all is done. The large opening in the overview pict to the right is where the Inwall tank will be. Not the greatest pictures, but I am not a photographer either!!
The fuge light is one of those 28wt pc lights of america that I bought at Home Depot a few years back. |

Pictures can be deceiving. The room is 9'ish (where the setup is) by 13'ish. To give an idea the door is 34".

OK.... I wont go there on the LeeMar issue. I have not finalized the large tank, but I will most like be going with http://www.miraclesaquariums.com/ . They are willing to do a few extra things for me like putting a 3/4 - 1" strip of glass on the interior top, bottom and sides for extra gluing area and an external overflow that's about 5-6' along the back panel. This should be cool....I hope....
Frank No its not done, but almost there. I will be finishing the master bath this next week with the shower and jet tub tiling. I can not even imagine what it would have cost to have someone do the work. Material cost has hit 18-20K alone with me doing a majority of the install. After this its the game room that meets the inwall tank and I am done!!!!!! OK maybe not. but its the small finish work woth 1 hour here and 2 there. sammoorefield Those tanks will be around a bit and in use. I would like to give them to Mark, but he would just kill them. I think it has something to do with his house being built on an Ancient Indian Burial ground and being possessed. I think that's how the story goes and I know Mark will chime in!!!!! JUST KIDDING WITH YA!!!!!! |

how much longer do you anticipate before ordering the new tank tony? The setup looks very clean. Do you still have everything else in the garage?

Here are a couple shots of the Fish Room progress. The room is actually 9'ish x 13'ish. I decided to keep the floor concrete and use the garage paint on it. Not sure if this will hold up as it has chipped in a couple places so just may tile it after its done. I filled all the imperfections in the floor with fix all and sanded smooth. The walls are all green board drywall and I filled the gap at the floor with fix all also to get a tight seal. I then used the floor paint and went up the wall 3" and then sealed it with caulking at the base so no water will penetrate to the drywall. I then used the vinyl baseboard and glued it to the wall and sealed it top an bottom with caulking again so no water will penetrate.
In the first picture I will have my stainless work sink and the new frag system that will be separate from the tank. The second picture shows the painted floor. And the last is my littler helper (pest) Oso with his mother Mimi. His father is in the avatar. Oso is now 8 months and a full terror or is it Terrier.... |

That was such a big job...
I just finished painting my living room/kitchen, and am laying a new floor next week... I can;t believe you did all that yourself... Amazing. Remodeling is difficult working full time, + I have a 2 yr old to get in the way |
