175 w MH over 20 gal?
Putting 1- 175watt MH 15000K over my 20 gal mixed (sps, lps & softies) reef tank, trying to get an idea of how high above the surface over the water it should be so I can build a new canopy for it today.
Thanks in advance. BM |

Personally I had my 175w about 6" over my tank. I know many people keep them higher to avoid splashing, but I never found it a problem.
At one point I put 2 175w bulbs over that tank, and it did well, though on hot days I would have to turn one off. Chris

I have a PFO 175w MH that is about 4-5 inches from the water. The reflector is about 1- 1.5 inch above the water. I wipe it down about once a week. Its just part of the water change now.
