Seachem Test Kit's?
I've been seeing these things come up more often. Would you say they are easy and accurate to use? I've been a Salifert user and just got attracted by the logo box I guess.

Well that is no good. I thought the Salifert was boring enough to stay there counting ML's

before I switched to saliferts test kits I too used seachem kits. I was very happy with them and never had a problem with it. I switched to salifert dew to all the praise I've read here on RC.
Well, I found out don't always believe what you read on the Internet. I have had nothing but different readings from different batch numbers. Go with seachem, heres what I got from saliferts test kit with different batch numbers on the same sample of water. ![]() |

SEaChem PO4 test is accurate to around .04 where Salifert is good to about .1. Since NSW has a very low po4 content, in many cases less than .01, I like to know how low my tank is. I think there are some pricier kits that are even more precise, but for me SeaChem gets my vote on its PO4 test kit.

The only experience I had with Seachem test kits was with their copper multi-test. It was not a good experience. Between my kit, my friend's kit and a replacement kit that they sent me, I couldn't get either my water or the reference sample to measure even close to what it was supposed to be. On top of that, it was extremely difficult to read the subtle differences, its like you have to choose which shade of blue-grey matches. Not a fan. Red Sea is much easier and more consistent than Seachem for this test.
On the bright side, Seachem was extremely responsive and did send me out the replacement. Everyone can have a problem at some point, so had the replacement worked I would have been fine with them. jds |
