Refugium rock
How much live rock is needed in a 30 gal refugium. I just set it up with a good 4 inches of substrate and added 30 lbs of live rock I had in my sump for the last 4 months. I wondering if that rock could be more benefical back in the sump which gets the majority of the water flow from the tank.

depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the rock in there and quality of rock. Adding more areobic bacteria for filtering may deter from the anerobic filtering going on.
As far as how much is needed....none is NEEDED, it's more preferencial than anything. The amount of rock and sand in the display portion should be sufficient to filter the tank. anything in the fuge is more for the benefits of pods/critters/ect. down there.

I've got 160lbs live rock in a 110gal.
The extra 25 lbs if sitting in the sump--is it still benefical to the tank its self? Thanks

More LR the better. Obviously, you don't want to over fill your tank. I've got about 175 lbs. of LR and 150 lbs. of LS in my 92 gal.
