Exclamation too many featherduster!

Feather dusters are spreading like wild fire, these feather dusters look like little anemones. How can I get rid of them. At first i thought they were cool but I think soon it will be a problem, they are even growing on my powerheads.

Are you sure they are feather dusters and not hydroids? Do you have a picture?

if they are feather dusters a copperband butterfly will wipe them out quickly.my CBB has eaten all of them from my tank in a matter of weeks.

I don't know about a CBB in a 55. Make sure they aren't hydroids. Might be able to scrub them off.

I have the same 'problem'. They spread every where and then they just stop growing right when you think they they will never stop. At leas that's what happened in my tank.

My emerald crab ate a lot of the dusters. He cracked their shell and ate the worms. I am not sure if it is like that with all the emerald crabs, it is worth a try at $6 / crab.
The crab also don't get too large, so you can house a few in your 55.

It all depends of what you have in the tank, but a racoon b'fly will also "take 'em out" and it is an inexpensive, hardy fish... usually doesn't hide and more durable than the CBB.

Remember that the dusters are good filter feeders also.
