Angry purple stuff in my tank

I was looking in the sand and i saw purple circles in it there where 3 of them. any i dea what is. My sand is 3 in. thick
any body know what it is?

LOL If I use my imagination I could say it was anything red.

It could be red slime, but I doubt it since you said purple circles.

I am going to take a guess and say it is coraline algae.

describe it for us. is it easily blown of your sand. is it slimy or hard. how old is the tank and what are your parameters

I would assume it is corraline algae as well.

Okay, it is like a purple\blue mix coler. it is acting like die in the sand. all it is is purple sand. I siphened it out but then the next morning it was back!

if you syphoned it... its probably cyanobacteria
