Getting rid of Red algae

Some spots on my sand are covered with this red algae. It is stringy in some places and on others its just flat. And it is annoying the heck outta me. What are some solutions?

Sounds like CyanoBacteria...

a Turkey Baster to suck up the junk.

Make sure you're not overfeeding (I believe excess nutrients can contribute)

Add some flow to the area that is affected...

It's not algee, it's bacteria.

Usually due to high nutrients in the tank.

I don't think there is anything that eats that stuff. You need to suck it out and look for the source.

Regards,

Pat

do you rinse your food.
i delt with it a while back . while flow does help i dont think that is the only common denominator.
i went to every other day feeding and upped my skimming.

John, can you please list your tank size and how much flow and skimming you have? Also, what are your phosphates and nitrates? Skimming, flow, and RO/DI will help to get rid of cyano.
