International Shipment

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows of any drygood places that would ship internationally. I was in Canada and moved to the middle east for a job and cant seem to find a decent LFS here. The fish and live rock is available here, but no corals. They dont even have any decent lighting...im sure i can place an order for corals through a LFS that sells fish. I think they import their fish from Malaysia.
Help from a reefer in need.

I have used MarineDepot to ship internationally. They use FedEx exclusively, so it's reliable but quite pricey.

Should be no problem

The only issue I've had wasn't with marinedpot or FedEx, but rather with Customs where I live.

I got a call from FedEx after the shipment arrived here. I'd ordered about a dozen different things, and they said Customs wouldn't allow the fish-food or the Selcon into the country because food items, including those for aquaculture, aren't allowed.

FedEx was great. They emailed a form for me to sign, then had a guy pick up the form at my office. I had the package the next morning, minus the three big bottles of Formulla One, Two, and Reef.

I told them the Selcon was technically a "nutritional supplement" and not a food, and they allowed it.

All in all, great service from MD and FedEx.

thanks, fedex is pretty good here and overall always good service. I guess purchasing a light and skimmers wont be much of a hassle for customs here.
Awesome now all i have to go is create and account. Shipping will cost be a bomb though :-(

Yes. I think it's more economical to order many things at once. or at least that's what repeated to myself as I added more stuff to my cart

Where are you, if I may...?

Cool. They're doing neat things in Dubai now, attempting to use electricity to 'grow' reefs around the new island developments.

Yet with 80% of Dubai's population being expatriates (i.e. renters), I can't imagine there's a great Reef LFS market. Have you seen any corals at all?

Yeah, they are doing pretty awesome thing, with the palm island. They are trying to make artifical reefs as well( dont know too much about that)
Lost of foreginers but the aquarium business ( refering to reef keeping and marine fish )doesnt seem to be doing that well.. would love to start my own. I've not come across a LFS that sells corals, i may have to do a lot of searching cause the yellow pages didn't bring me much luck.

I believe you need to check out the Burj al Arab's aquarium, and take some pictures. Not sure if they have coral or not, but it is saltwater.

I think you need to try shipping from Singapore rather than the US. As I recall Dubai is on 240V rather than 110? Anyway there is a very good webtailer based in Singapore, but I don't recall the URL. Maybe also aquaristik.net, based in Germany

I had a very good week in Dubai a couple years ago - on a day of work we went to the E side of the peninsual to snorkel, dive, and there is also an awesome mangrove swamp a little S of the diving locales.

thanks, i was actually thinking of getting something close by here as well...Not too sure where is the nearest place that ships good stuff.
Yeah Dubai is on 240V which mean shipping things from the US would not do me any good unless i get a converter ( which i dont want to do)
Snorkelling is great on the East side..water is clear plenty of fish and you can even see dolphins. We had a few whale sharks come to the harbour here
