emergency question about drilling
I'm finally ordering my tank tomorrow morning and the LFS guy says most of his tanks are drilled at 2" and the durso site sells his pre-made pipes at 3/4", 1", 1-1/4" and 1-1/2". I was thinking 1-1/2" would be enough, am I making a mistake or should I take a 2" hole or does it even make any difference?
I have a mag 7 pump for the return. The new tank will be a 90 gallon. |

a mag 7 for a return is not even taking advantage of a 1-1/2" pipe. i have a mag 12 on my 75 and i could probably get away with even running a mag 24 i have a one inch but i lose a lot of flow between the 90 degree bends.

So if I have a 1.5" hole in the tank, I'm using 1.5" pipe? Do I end up with 1" inside dimension? Sorry about the questions, but I know nothing about this drilling stuff... :P

Well make sure that it's not just a 1.5" hole, but a hole for a 1.5" bulkhead. you also have to check which bulkhead it's drilled for... SCH 40 or SCH 80, as they have differing thicknesses.
