Diamond goby vs. ss star fish
I don't want to put a sss in my tank w/dsb for fear of depleting the micro-fauna. Will a ss Goby do the same thing?

I would go with a diamond goby, I used to have one and I can say they have quite a personality. They are great as long as you do not mind on it rearranging you sand bed.

I believe the goby sifts the sand for the sole purpose of eating your microfauna.
If not I will get one too!

I have both. The stars sift beneath the surface most of the time, and the gobies keep the top layer clean.

If you have a dsb, I don't see the goby digging deep enough to get at all the microfauna. Mine only does the top 1" give or take a 1/4". Does a good job of keeping the sand clean.
