Tank upgrade/transfer

I'm starting a new 225 gallon reef and want to incorporate my existing 100 gallon reef. Once the new tank is set up, what are the steps to transferring the old tank into the new?

Do I use the old tank's LS to cycle the new tank? Do I use the sand in the refugium in the new fuge?

I have a large amount of "dead" live rock that has been stored in the garage that I'm going to use. And the LR that is in my current tank. I though I would use some of the Live Rock and Live Sand from the old tank to help "liven" up the dead LR and LS for the new tank.

Is there a thread with a checklist of some type or a rule of thumb I can follow?

Thanks fo the help.

you shouldnt have a cycle if u use the live rock from ur current tank if u xfr it immediatly into the new. the only time live rock can cycle a tank is when it hasnt been cured. but if its been in a system and is being xfrd directly into a new tank then the biological filtration in it is already established and u shouldnt have much die off. i did this a couple of years ago when i moved up into my prev tank and i didnt even have a cycle.

yeah i agree. but its hard to wait. my financial situation forces me to do the responsible thing and take it slow. if i was rich i would probably have a new tank loaded w/ dying stuff.
The cool thing about upgrading is most of the time u can incorporate most of the stuff u used in ur previos setup. plus ur a little smarter and are able to make a more realistic plan in setting it up.
I hope all goes well w/ the setup, post some pics.
