Christmas in May (lighting question)...

I recently picked up two almost new Custom SeaLife 175w metal halide /power compact pendants and ballasts from a lfs owner as a swap out on some computer work I did for him. While they are really cool and complete with bulbs, etc. I'm not sure if they would work really well on my 90 (48x18x24).

So what's the general thinking around here, will 2x175 MH/PC support zoos, leathers, and lps? What about BTA type anemones?

Oh yeah, one more question: is Custom SeaLife equipment anygood or did he give me the equivalent of the Yugo in the MH world?

-thanks

2x175 watt metal halides should be plenty of light for the coral mentioned above, you could also keep SPS at the top.

custom sealife is no longer around.

That said, I have used the pc ballasts on nano-reefs and never had a problem.

nebraskareef,

Yeah, I tried googling Custom SeaLife and nothing really turned up, so I figured they are defunct. I wonder why they went out of business. Hopefully it wasn't for faulty products, just faulty accounting practices.

BTW, I talked to the lfs owner who gave them to me, and he got them from Champion last Thanksgiving and never really used them.

thanks, for the info!

found that...

that's a nice little piece of corporate fluff that just says "we are out of business" which is nice, but it doesn't say why. Now if it said:

"...the decision the cease operations was becuase our stuff was always catching on fire and burning down our customers houses"

or
"we make a really good product, but we spent all the profits on hookers and blow instead of rent and payroll" it would be more informative.

That is the funniest thing I have ever read on RC, I am going to be laughing about that quote for weeks.
