So I opened it up and all the wiring was brittle.....

....I was given a 175w pendant/mogul style MH fixture w/ ballast and my plan was to take the wiring out of the pendant to hang from inside of my hood as an open mogul bulb set. When I opened the wiring that goes to the socket I noticed that the wires had been burned or was simply very old (but light was still working). I disconnected the wires and cleaned up the ends (trimming back the unusable portions of wire) and I made an attempt at rewiring the socket back into my canopy without the pendant fixture. As far as I can tell, I re-wired everything just as it looked before with the whole white, green, black wires connected where they were before and when I went to fire it up.....nothing happened. I hate electrical becasue Im color blind but I need to get this back up and running. Does anyone have a diagram of how the mogul socket is supposed to be wired so I can make sure Ive done it right before I go buy a new ballast?

TIA
