Ich break out

Hi everyone... I just got an ich breakout on my new tank... one of my clown died last night and now my blue tang has spot all over his skins... How can I treat it? should I go out and get a QT tank and Isolate this fish? i also have another percula clown and a sleeper goby in the tank.. Do I have to take them out as well? Can I treat the ich in the MT instead of transfer them? I am so lost...I just got the tank start 1 months ago and things already going south... Please help

Go to the fish diseases forum, where there is a "stickied" post on the identificaiton and treatment of ich. Hyposalinity seems to be the most preferred option, but you can read all about it, and other methods at that post. You will need to set up a QT, and treat the fish there. The main tank should be empty of fish for at least 6 weeks, so that the ich can run its course, and die.

Good luck!
Kevin

Garlic has worked for me before, twice.

I just set up a new 20 gallon nano and had and ich outbreak that wiped out 4 fish. You need to act quickly. I now have a quarantine tank and will start adding back fish in a few weeks. It's been a month since the outbreak.

You need to treat in a separate tank if you have live rock or any invertabrates. If you don't I'd treat with hyposalinity in your main tank. The fact is, it may be too late for you Hippo Tang, but it all depends on the fish. I have a Hippo Tang in my other aquarium that battled with Ich off and on for the first few months a owned him. He survived the ordeal and I've now had him for over 6 years. Good luck.

By the way, I would also add garlic to your food.
