back to back sump/display
hey everyone,
I have a 5.5g reef right now and i'm looking to add a sump i built a sump out of a 5.5g AGA with skimmer and fuge section i tried putting it back to back with my display but the overflow box will not create a good syphon b/c there is no gravity force -is there another way for this to work without drilling?? |

You won't be able to get a good siphon unless you keep the water level lower in the sump.
One option is to raise the display tank just a few inches. You'll have to drop the water level in the sump a little to handle overflow in case of power outages. But, it should be enough to make a siphon work. The other thing I can think of is trying to attach the two tanks together and then cutting an overflow in one side and having a return in the other. You'd basically be making a Nano Cube. Probably not a practical possibility, but maybe.
