PC light question
I have a 55gallon with a hood, and I found someone selling a used Jebo 4x55watt light fixture. for like $50.00. one are these things safe? two I was thinking of taking it out of the fixture and mounting it inside the tank hood with a few extra fans and mounting the ballasts in the stand or on the back of the hood.
any thoughts or suggestions on this idea?

PC lighting fixtures are safe. The bulbs do not last long, they should be changed out every 6 to 8 months. You can disassemble the fixture just make sure the lights are not touching any part of the hood, pc lights get very hot fans are good idea.

they are hot. pc bulbs made up my first lighting set up. it was a do it yourself, and worked ok, but i later realized one of the most important things i would ever invest in was lighting so i uped to metal halides with pc. then mh with vho which was better, and now i have mh with t5. an excellent combo.
