Are you involved in a local fish club? The folks in my group are all very helpful.

Exactly, if you do leave a non-reefer in charge literaly write full instructions and even place the ammunt of dry food on the list showing what is the correct ammount. Make sure the person knows nothing goes in the tank unless you approve it first!!!!! I am reminded of a guy that went out of town and the food ran out so his girlfiend fed them a can of tuna in oil no less. Bottom line bad thiings can happen unless you leave clear instructions.

When I went to Mammoth I had my mother feed my fish and I came back to a dead sea...

Now I have my best friend do it when I'm out of town and I've scared her into following each and every line item on my directions sheet.

I wouldn't trust an automatic feeder, you need someone to call you in the event something is out of whack...

But that's just me, and I'm pretty anal about my tank....

If I'm going to be gone a short time (3 days or less) I make sure that my sump is all topped off and I just leave the tank alone. The fish are hungry when I get home but usually all is well.
