A buddy of mine has one, the H&S 250-2x1260, it seems to work pretty well. It doesn't look much different from the 200-2x1260 except that its 2" wider and the neck is wider. What size tank were you looking to put it on?

Probabley going on a 225g so its way overkill.Im also thinkin of the BM 300 when it arrives which is even more overkill but from what I hear you should get the best skimmer you can.

So im surprised you said it wasonly a pretty good skimmer as all the reviews ive read say the a200 2x 1260 is awsome?what do you recommend?

The A200 2x has had mixed reviews. Owners have said the body is too small for 2 pumps and they cant get it to run well. The A250 has a larger body that is more suited to a 2 pump skimmer. I'd stick with the A250.

The BM250 is a good skimmer for a lot less than some of the other brands. I dont think it is comparable to an A250, but it is ~ $1000 less. If I were spending $1700 for the A250 2x1260, I'd have to consider the ER RC500 for the same price. It pretty much has the same specs as the $2200 H&S A300 3 x 1260.

I didn't mean to insinuate that H&S is anything less than a quality product. I feel that my H&S 200-1260 is an excellent skimmer that does a very good job at removing organics from my tank. There are many less expensive alternatives, but I felt that the quality of H&S justified its price.

Here's an old thread on the A250:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...hreadid=906568

I really think you will be disappointed if the skimmer is severely oversized. Always best to have it slightly bigger capacity, but grossly oversize you will not be happy with. I seen owners of high end skimmers move away to smaller skimmer after owning something that was too large. I wouldn't waste your money, just find out the right sizing depending on a combination of bioload and total water volume.

Another recent link to a A250 owner: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...t=a250+skimmer

I have a A150 on a 180g tank, I would think that the H&S A200-1260 will be just fine for your tank depending on your bioload and feeding patterns.

I've got a H&S A200-1260 on about a 250 gallon system.. I feed pretty heavy and I only need to dump the skimmer cup once every week to week in a half.. So I would for sure say the A250 would be over kill.. Nothing wrong with overkill but at some point your just wasting electricty and money. Not to mention my ASM G4 cost less then half my H&S and to tell you the truth I think they perform pretty close to each other.. The H&S is built alot better though..
