question about a new tank

i have a 20 gallon reef with no sump and i want to up size it to a 55 with sump. i have a few questions, an over flow box- how does that exactly work and how should i do drilling. secondly what should i put in my sump and what other things should i get. if anybody has another thread that has all of this information on it, can you please tell me it???
