A sometimes colorful calcareous algae that is loved by some, hated by others. Otherwise known as the pink/purple stuff on your glass.

It is an encrusting algae. It needs magnesium, calcium and higher end alkalinity levels to grow. Generally speaking it needs good water quality to grow. From my understanding it does best under lower light but can acclimate to higher and thrives in most established tanks.

A sign your tank is doing well. Also time to get a good scraper. I leave it on the back and sides of glass only some only like back its up to you.
