dead shrimp

hello guys, i got a question, what would kill or may i say what conditions would kill a shrimp, would it be salinity?, temp? etc?, i have lost 2 shrimp in about 4 days, and i had them for about 2 weeks, just need to know so i can correct, ohh and i know my tank is new and everything, but lets say my tank is 1 year old and i had the same problem, any ideas??

LOL cant just say its 1 year and not in SW its important. What are water readings. How much LR ? And the first thing you added was the shrimp ?

ok, param, ph 8.4, ammo 0, trite 0, trate 0, temp 77, ca 440, alk 11, po4 0, everey 3 days i dose purple up, i have a 10 gal refugium with cheato, lr, ls, (theres a spot growing from bottom to the top on sand bed of refugium wich is about 4 inches deep, it looks black, could it be hydrogen sulfide?), its beign drip dosed with calcium, a drop every 3 seconds, the tank is 46 galon with 40 pounds of live rock and 50 of ls, i have a cyano outbreak too btw, i do a 10% water change every week, so any ideas???

ohh live stock, 1 yellow tang, 2 clowns, 1 firefish and about 8 softies (leather coral, starpolips, mushrooms, xenia, zoanthids, and 2 other wich i cant remember names.

What's your salinity? How stable is it along with your temp? The black area of the sandbed could very well be hydrogen sulfide. Don't disturb this area.

Well... If these are new shrimps they could have just molted and tend to hide a few days while new shell hardens. Also sounds like flow could be a little weak. What do you use for flow ?

salinity is around 1.025, i have a hydrometer so this is what i have now, i will get a refractometer when i get some money, anyways i did see the shrimp molt 1 day before and next day i found him lying on his back not moving, should i leave them alone???, ohh and black spot is crawling upwards its almost to the top, should i just shut of refugium and change sand?? or just leave it alone??? thanks

Sounds like the black spot might just be cyano. You'll see this commonly in deep(er) sand beds. Might not be anything to worry about.

no the tank is new and its almost 2 months old, i know my tank is not mature enough, but any ideas would help, i still have a cleanr shrimp and maybe 1 peppermint left, wich i havent seen in 2 or 3 days

They usually molt a few weeks after indroduced i would just wait a few day and im sure they will emurge.

no the thing is that i find them dead or apear to look dead, they dont move or twitch or nothing, and i believe something in tank is killing them, could be param, could be coral, could be fish, dont know, please help

The same thing happened to me and my 3 different species of shrimp. Ihad them for over 6 months with the same tank mates. After tons of research, I came to the conclusion that I had anammonia spike. NH3/NH4 can spike and go backown befor you can get a reading. One of the very few species that would react to this bloom, are SHRIMP. NH3/NH4 would kill them instantly.

finally someone with same problem, i will keep a better check on things, probalby and ammonia spike huh, i lost a blenny out of hunger (he ate all hair algea and would not aet anything else) maybe thats it, i will keep you posted.
