15 hours.....too long of a light period?
I have timers siting next to my tank and just need to hook them up. I have been turning my actinics on at about 6:30-7:00am and then a half hour later the 10,000k and leavign them on until about 11-12 when I go to bed at night. Its abotu 15 hours of light each day. Could this hurt anything or is it better to have long periods of light for the corals. I have mostly softies and LPS.

I only have PCs and I have run mine 12 hrs. a day on a timer since I got the tank. I don't think it hurts anything at all. If you have halides and you run them 12 hrs. a day the only thing it really hurts is your wallet when the electric bill comes!
![]() I think 15 hours a day with PCs is fine. Especially if you run the actinic for 14-16 hrs. and the 10,000 K lamps for 12-14 hrs. ![]() |
