Anyone used this Ebay HQI Retro-Fit Reflector?

found on ebay for a 250w hqi for $38.95:

Anyone use this? how does it compare to the more pricey ones?

It does not look that great... but then again who knows. For between $100 and $150 you can get the best out there. Without testing it is hard to say how efficient it is compared to the better units.

Also, bumping your own post less than an hour after submiting it may actually get you less responses. People see the number of replies and sometimes do not bother to help if they think somebody else already did

Many of us drop in and check back through a day or two of new posts (or as many days as we have missed).

Hello lights supply these reflectors with their retro fit kit. They are aluminum based, they are ok i guess. A little on the week side. It comes with a thick glass as a UV shield.

i have used them and they work well. mounted directly into canopy with t-5 in the front and back. The size allows for the mounting of T-5.
matched with a ballast from hello lights

"working well" and actual output efficiency may not be the same thing

I have two of them that I bought as temp fixtures. They aren't very good at distributing light evenly...lots of shadows and empty spots. The glass is really thick but in the end it is just a cheaply made reflector. No real thought was given to the light distribution and it shows when it is powered up. Save your money for a good reflector.

Mine will be on a frag tank once the LA III mini's are delivered.
