Question My kalk dripped to fast !!!!!!!!!!!!!

My kalk mix dripped all its contents into my tank in an hour while I was out.
Im using kalk mixed with white vinegar which would have helped to keep the PH down a bit but it's about 8.6 now.
Everything seems fine and happy in the tank.
Any ideas of what this PH might do.Ive got 0 ammonia 0 nitrates
but its a 10gall tank and its overstocked coral and fish and no skimmer.

Any ideas ?

Something similar happened to me...my pH spiked (Not sure to what) and I ended up precipitating calcium carbonate everywhere...it looked like they were swimming in milk for a while. So...if that happens, don't panic, it will resolve itself.

Saying it's fine at 8.6 may be a little pre-mature. What was it before hand? A fast increase in pH can be very deadly. Watch the tank closely and if you see anything acting distressed, I'd recommend a good sized water change.

Yeah.. but the damage would have already been done, and doing anything except small occasional water changes would only make things worse.

I would not recommend doing a big water change as this would only cause another swing in the other direction. Let it come back down slowly, run some carbon if you can and monitor everything closely for signs of stress.

You may want to purchase a drip gate. I bought mine at KV Pet Supply.

It's no big deal if you run a gallon into a 100+ gallon tank, but a 10g tank is a bit more risk then you want to take.
