Fish that jump??
I heard that gobys like to jump and I can;t remeber but I was under the impression that most wrasses jump too. Is this true? Which species should I stay away from if I have an open hood?

Never had a "bottom dwelling" goby- like shrimp gobies etc. jump but the dartfish- some of which are referred to as gobies are notorious jumpers. Gudgeons, firefish and banded dart fish all come to mind.
When it comes to wrasses there are so many different groups that all I can do is help you narrow it down a little. There's lots that don't have a jumping rep but I've heard Fairy wrasses are common jumpers. They also sometimes splash water on MH bulbs and shatter them when they jump. |

My six line wrasse.
Royal grama did once but I was in the room and head it and put him back in. He appears to have changed this habit. It has been a couple of months and is doing well. Also he was new to tank. |

just about any fish can jump, its just luck. Just get what you want and enjoy it as they may never jump and if they do they nay not make it out of the tank. If you are really conserned then put egg crate over your tank.

IMO most if not all wrasses are liable to jump. pretty much any active fish that startles easily has potential. Had a guy in our club that had a manderin jump a while back. What size tank and what other inhabitants? Also providing hiding places would also lessen your chances if given a choice: jump or hide

well it's a 75g. So far I'm thinking of a kole tang, maroon clown, chalk bass and canary blenny. But I don't want to add a bunch of fish that will just end up behind my tank.

I had a diamond goby jump once. I use eggcrate over my tank now.
