lights for green glow nightime veiwing

I am planing a 50 gallon (30x18x21). Will have a 250 MH and want to add something for nightime viewing for the Green glow look. What should I use for this NO, VHO, T5, PC, or LED ?

Do you mean that you want the corals to floresce green? If so, you need blue LEDs.

yes I like to see them floresce green w/o the halide on.

blue leds
odyssea has a nice, bright, blue led wand that is cheap
aquatraders.com

UV does it, blue LEDs happen to get into that spectrum and look cool doing it.

a blue party light bulb will not work however, a normal incandescent does not have the right wavelengths in its spectrum.

Oh I thought he wanted a green tank instead of the normal blue. Florescence I believe needs to be around 450nm

If you wish to use a hand-held LED, I recommend the 405 nanometer Photon Purple Blacklight LED (http://www.photonlight.com/UV-Ultrav...blacklight.htm). I use it for my 75-gallon aquarium to view my corals glowing green under this light at night.

The Photon Light website also sells 375 nm UV LEDs but I have no experience with them and would not recommend them if you have young children. The UV LEDs come with a tiny hood to direct the beam and protect your eyes from direct exposure.
