Question for people with bluethroat experience

I added a bluethroat trigger to my SPS tank 12 days ago.

The fish appears healthy, and although he hides under my reef 99% of the time, I can still see him whenever i want due to the way i lift my rock. He pokes his head out for a few seconds every now and then.

Am I watching my fish starve to death?? Its been 12 days. I have not been able to get him to eat anything. I make my own food and have tried the food I mix it as well as fresh pieces of various seafood and even nori as I heard that they will eat that oo sometimes.

Do I need to pay overnight shipping for some live feeders(ghost shrimp) to try to get him to eat, or is it still ok assuming he will eventually come out and eat??

Two weeks ago I went from a sand bottom to BB. During the transition (a day or so) I kept my fish (maroon clown, male BTT, female BTT) in a rubbermaid tub with a powerhead and a heater.

After I transferred the fish back to the tank, naturally they hid. However, the clown the female BTT came out after about 3 days.
The male BTT hid for about 2 weeks and didn't eat anything that I could see.

I got the male BTT to eat some raw shrimp the night before last (15 days) by holding the shrimp in some tongs in front of his face (he was wedged in the rocks and happened to be facing the front of the tank). Last night he came out and swam a little and even got some food when I fed the other fish.

I would try to :

- use a turkey baster to gently put some food in front of him
- use some tongs to hand-feed him
- put some food on a nori clip and then walk away from the tank

See if those work before you give up hope. You might also try using some Selcon to whet his appetite. Good luck!

Another thing you can try is turning the lights out and then placing food in the water. I've had pretty good success with this in the past.

Thanks for the replies.

I have done all of the above minus the selcon. I will see if my lfs has some.

What do you guys think about the live ghost shrimp?? If in a few more days, is that a good way to stimulate feeding??
