velocity t3 pump question

i set up my entire system and then put water in the tank and i go to plug in the pump to see NOTHING
the pump wasnt working so i emptied the sump and took the pump apart and everything looks fine
after i put it back together i plug it in and all i get is a humming sound
its a velocity type pump but made by dolphin in 2000
is it an age thing or can it be fixed?
i bought it used a LONG time ago and only tested to see if it worked and it did but not anymore

If it is the pump that I'm thinking about, it is not self -priming. You have to completly fill the piping or hoses before operation. TinMan

the pump was completely filled
the pipe connected to the out is clear so you can see water going up when i filled the sump
thanks for the reply

sometimes what I do is plug it in and unplug it a couple times. I would also double check the priming or if something is plugging the water from going through.

I had this happen to my T3, it has been running constantly for two years.

I took the entire pump apart, removing the "impeller" assembly. Cleaned it, re assembled and it works fine now.

I once had a snail somehow get in to it, and found the shell ground down, it had stopped the pump, the overheat kicked in and the pump stopped. After taking it apart, it worked fine.

what happened to mine was that the ball thingy, i think is the magnet, go stuck to the housing that attaches to the gasket
only reason i found this out was that i took apart a t4 to see what the problem was
thanks

I guess we are supposed to clean them out every few months.

i think its not primed.. it happens to me from time to time. i just squeeze and release the flex tubing going into the pump until it "catches" and then it runs like a top.

I don't think it is primed either, I just run a maxijet into the return plumbing until bubbles stop coming out of the intake of the pump.

well, its not that i needed to clean it, it was sitting in my garage for a while and probably just got stuck so after i took apart the t4 and saw how loose the impeller should be and that the impeller on the t3 was stiff, i just jostled it around a bit
