Boiling Base Rock!
Can I boil base rock in tap water?

If it is base rock why do you want to boil it? There is nothing living on it. Just rinse under tap water and do a soak in RO/DI saltwater and you should be fine.

The rock is dirty and I thought boiling it would help clean it a little better.

I guess it might help. I wouldn't get too worried about the "nutrients" in the tap water (if that's what you are worried about) Just soak overnight in RO/DI after.
