Playmate for Purple Tang

I finally found a "playmate" for my purple tang. I found it quite hard to find a new fish which my Purple Tank (mean little beast) would not stress out too much.
I tried a yellow tang once - bad idea. He stressed him out so badly that I had to rescue the little guy and bring him bakc to LFS. Then I read the threads/comments about tangs with different body shape, and here we go:

I added him yesterday and so far all has been well. He eats like a pig and when Purple is trying to show him his backside (eg. swimming backwards towards him with little spike sticking out) he responds well in pushing him away. Great. Got a Naso with attitude - love it.

And I guess 2 tangs in a 180g shouldn't be a problem - right? (Hello tang police! )

Cross fingers that all keeps continue to go well
Thanks for looking
Cheers
Jutta

Not necessarily agressive (he has never attacked me ), they just dont like other tangs and do bully other fish, just defending their terretory. So if you want to add a fish after you have introduced a purple tang, you best find one which is very active and dominant and doesnt get stressed easily

Nasos are a good idea. Larger sailfins and hippo tangs work well also.

I just went through the same trouble with my Purple Tang. I had got a Copperband Butterfly that I didn't think my tang would care about at all. Wrong! He bullied him and I had to take the CBB back to the fish store. Ended up getting a big Powder Blue and he has attitude! He didn't take any pushing around from my PT and they were pretty much fine right from the start.

I had wanted a Naso but my tank isn't big enough for one. Lovely fish!
