Live Rock
I have two pieces of rock in an established tank and was wondering if I could just place them in a tank i just started. Of course the new rock is bare and the other rock is covered in hair algea. Will it benefit the new tank in any way?

It will help spread the life to the dead rock in your new system. You'll spread the hair algae as well unfortunately, however you should investigate what is causing the hair algae anyways.

You can do that but try to remove as much of the hair algae as possible beforehand. Pull out the majority and even scrub just that part of the rocks with a stiff brush then turn the rock over in the new tank so no light reaches the HA.

Try to peel as much hair algae as you can before introducing your rock to minimize the chance of having HA in your new tank
