calcium reactor
OK i have a 100 gallon tank with about 140 total gallons.. i am currently using the Dow flake 2 part calcium. i was thinking about a reactor to take care of my needs. what kind of maintenance am i looking at with a reactor? how ofter do you change the stuff inside, and how long can u go one one CO2 fill? would i need some type of controller to use it?
not sure what the hell this symbol means but i thought i would throw one in |

You change the ARM Media dependts on the size of the reactor and whats in your tank. Example: If it holds 12lbs of Media and you have a 10lbs Co2 tank and you have a medium stocked Reef that depends on the added Calk I think both should last about 6 months. However I'm just now learning about this myself & this is just from what I "think" If I understood it right. It also depends on what type/brand of Media your using too. That I know is correct. If I'm wrong someone will correct me.

Once you tune it in and get it set, no.

i have 120 gallon with 50 gallon sump but the total volume it's 110 gallon (less the live rock) .
i use Geo 6/12 calc reactor one of the best reactor in the market build strong and easy to maintain come with all the component and this size also good to your tank 5lbs Co2 tank schuran media (big one and less then 10lbs in the reactor) reef fanatic ph controller (you can choose other one if you want) reef fanatic regulator (you can choose other one if you want) maxi jet 1200 as a feed pump (you can use other if you want) the media about 1 year in the reactor and it's still in good shape . the co2 in the tank refill one time and still i have more in the tank (i drip about 12b/m). if you will buy this reactor it will take you about week or 2 to adjust it and after that you can leave it without to touch it , at the begin you will need to adjust the drip from the co2 and from the effluent to get the desire alk and calcium in the tank you also will need to check the drip from the effluent and from the co2 till it will be stabile and not change and after that you will need to do maybe in month or 2 some small tweak (personal i didn't touch mine long time but in each tank it's different). |
