wave maker question

i am getting a current seas wave maker. this wavemaker can control 4 powerheads but only one of the powerheads is on at a time. it can be controlled to switch powerheads between every 5 - 30 seconds. i planned on having 2 modded mj400 at about 500-600 gph each. i am now thinking that this is not enough flow since only one will be on at a time. should i just mod 2 mj1200 for 1500 gph each? it is going to be on my 55gal reef all softies. tia
