Help me make my skimmer sump quiet!
OK I need some help here.
I've got a rather large skimmer that sit's in it's own 30 G sump. It is powered by 3 Sedra 9000 pumps. The skimmer sits on the bottom of the sump and the sump sits in a wooden enclosure. The wooden enclosure sits on top of some 2 X 4's to raise it off the concrete floor a bit. The pumps are attached to the skimmer via uniseals and also sit on the bottom of the sump. My problem is the constant vibration noise of the pumps and skimmer. Is there any type of insulation that I can put inside the sump to sit the skimmer and pumps on that will absorb the vibration and not break down in the SW? Any other ideas on how to make this thing quiet? Thanks for any help you can provide.

blown63chevy,
I use this under my MAG 9. It may work well for your situation. https://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/pro...52/product.web JB |

Thanks, didn't think of that. I don't know if it will work though as my skimmer itself holds about 25G of water so it's heavy. BIG skimmer. It's about 6 feet tall and 10" in diamater. That stuff may compress too much under the weight. But thanks for the idea.

How about a few plain, neoprene mousepads?
Several people here have reported using these mousepads to quiet their in-sump skimmer pumps and return pumps, without any ill-effects.
