OMG! Look at this!
It blows my mind that someone would do this, let alone patent the process! Some people are out of their minds I guess.

I have some brackish puffers that are now full marine ... But they are ment to me marine, when they are adults, like mine are.
Id never do it the other way around. |

Long term, failure is inevitable. Marine fishes may survive brackish water temporarily but they have to go back to the sea shortly. I see this in my backyard all the time (my house is by the Peace River which is an estuary). Sharks, jellyfish, goliath grouper (babies), redfish, snook, blue leg crabs, ladyfish, herring, etc. come to the estuary once in a while to hunt for food but they do not stay there for long.

I can't remember what it was called but there was a product associated with that that was available in the hobby.

I love this line:
This is accomplished by methods well-known in the art, such as by placing a dead coral in the aquarium to act as a natural buffer... Ummm...You know that's a bunch of bunk right? See that's why we have to run CO2 into calcium reactors, to get the pH well below 7 so the "skeletons" in the reactor dissolve. Skeletons at a pH of 7 and above will remain skeletons and do nothing to "buffer" a tank, saltwater or fresh.

mhurly, not to change the subject but what's with the picture of Paris? It's...different, I guess.
I agree with the rest of you, why would you bother doing this? Freshwater fish live in fresh water and saltwater fish live in saltwater. Putting saltwater fish in freswater sounds silly if there's no good reason for it.

Whatever he is smoking...share
IMHO, it's obviously something to suit those that have purely selfish aesthetics without the consideration of the animals well being in mind. Goes to the expression "thrive vs survive". Then again, this industry is fraught w/these ****-a-may-me ideas and products...*cough* eco aqualizer. Don't bogart that man...pass the dutchie this way... |

It's a fairly old idea...they used to have a system where you added SUGAR to get it up to the right SG, and SW and FW fish can live together. Called "Magic Aquarium" or something. Such a bad idea!
