Lightbulb Carbon removing trace elements?

If I contiunually run carbon in my phosphate reactor along with Warner Marine's Phosar will it remove trace elements, calcium, iodine, strontium or magnesium?

There was a good thread about this on the chemistry forum. I do not believe that there is any evidence to support that carbon (or skimming) can remove trace elements from salt water. In order for carbon to adsorb trace minerals from the water the minerals have to have a stronger affinity for the carbon than for the sea water and for naturally occuring sea water elements in naturally occuring concentrations this is not the case (again, to the best of my knowledge.) If you post on the chemistry froum I'm sure that one of the experts can weigh in on this with a more scientific explanation.
