Open top tanks and fish that jump
Unfortunately this morning I woke to find that my black and white clown had jumped out of my tank and subsequently died on the carpet. The tank has an arcadia light setup so the top is open. The clown was fine for months (it was the first fish I added) anyway my recent edition, a sand-shifting goby, which I added yesterday may have frightened it during the night, hence its foray overboard.
I guess that I am not the first person this has happened to. I am looking for suggestions as to the best way to add extra sides to the tank to prevent this happening in future. Are there such things as clip on glass extensions? Or would I need to have these specially made? The water level is about 1.5"-2" from the top of the tank, I cannot let it go much lower as the protein skimmer wont work properly. Your thoughts please... |
