hob octopus skimmer users
question for those using the hob's and the resun 225 pumps...
my skimmer almost seems to backfeed some. it started happening a little while ago every once in a while, but now it's all the time. the water level in the output chamber fills way too high and creates a gurgling sound. doesn't seem to affect performance, but i'm afraid of it eventually overflowing (which i don't think it can do). it almost seems like the output tube is somewhat clogged, but i've cleaned it out and it still does it. any one have the same issues or a resolution to the problem? thanks

Are your air intakes getting salt creep in them? This will slowly starve the pump of air and increase water flow.
Put the air intake tube into a cup of fresh water every couple of days and let it suck in fresh water for just a few seconds. It will clear out the creep. Carl |

i replaced the airline and it still does it. i'm wondering if it has a similar gasket problem like some of the other octo pumps did?

I'll get a close up look at one later this week. Someone I work with just ordered one. Maybe I'll see something on it when I look at it.

that's cool - i appreciate it. just remember that this is a resun king pump, not an octopus pump.
thanks again

I have one of these, the BH-100 version. I had to remove the black sponge on the outflow, the water level was dangerously high with it attached.
